Messages of
encouragement

You can be part of the support that Anglicare offers
to our neighbours in need. We’d love you to write a message of encouragement or prayer on a Connection Card and drop it into your church or communities Mailbox.

Take a moment
to connect

We are all made for connection. Sometimes, a simple, thoughtful message can be the turning point in someone’s week.

God's church has a special part to play. Our prayers and words
of encouragement come alongside Anglicare’s practical care, bringing hope and connection in moments of great need.

Our Financial Wellbeing, Foster Care and Chaplaincy teams will hand-deliver your card during moments of care throughout the year.

Writing your message

In this busy season, take a few moments to encourage and pray for someone you’ll likely never meet. Writing a Connection Card is a way to share the comfort we have received from God with those navigating a crisis.

Write with warmth & care

As you write, imagine you are speaking to someone from your own church community. Keep your message general, offering words of comfort and encouragement - rather than giving specific advice.

To protect your privacy, please sign off with your first name only, and keep your language gender-neutral so your card can be shared with whoever needs it most.

Ideas of what to write

  • A simple prayer: Ask for God's strength, peace, or provision in their life.
  • A favourite scripture: Share a Bible verse or a promise of God's love that brings you hope.
  • A gentle reminder: Reassure them that they are not alone, and that God sees them and cares.
  • A quick prompt: Copy a message from our table guide to share a warm word of comfort.

What happens to
your messages?

01 Write

You write your message

When you choose a gift card, take a moment to write
a handwritten note of encouragement on the tear-off Connection Card (you can keep the other side as a reminder of your gift). If you are donating online, you can write a digital message which will be added to our wall of encouragement.

02 Post

Put your card in the mailbox

Drop your completed Connection Card directly into the Message Mailbox. Each week, your church or community coordinator will safely pack and post all of your congregation's handwritten messages back to Anglicare using the reply-paid envelopes supplied.

Our team receives your words

Once your Connection Cards arrive at Anglicare, our team will sort them, and distribute them directly to our frontline teams, including community pantries, mobile hubs, caseworkers, financial counsellors and chaplains.
